Piano Storage

Kramer’s Piano Shop provides piano storage on-site in our climate-controlled storage area.  Your piano is an investment, and we treat it as such.  Your piano may be stored at Kramer’s Piano Shop for as little or as long as you need, whether it be a couple days or years at a time. Stored pianos are wrapped in heavy duty blankets to protect them and are fully-insured while in our care.

Storage pricing will vary depending on whether the piano is a vertical or a grand. For grands, the overall length of the piano will determine the prices as well. We also store organs and prices vary for these as well based on their sizes.

Warning: DO NOT store pianos in garages, basements, or storage units that are NOT climate-controlled.

Most storage units are not climate-controlled, and those that are climate-controlled have higher rates and have cement floors with little to no heat which are potentially harmful to pianos. Cement floors and cement walls hold moisture which will damage your piano.  This type of environment causes the strings to rust, hardens the hammer and damper felts, and causes action parts in the piano to freeze up and keys to stick.

The finish on a piano may also be affected by uncontrolled climates as it can crack as the wood underneath responds to change.  The interior of the piano is changing also as most of the piano is made of wood. In winter, it is best to keep the temperature at a minimum of 60 degrees.

Your mind will be at ease while your piano is stored in our climate-controlled facility.
