Our Story

Our History

Dean Kramer had just turned 17 years old and graduated one year early from high school. His father had suggested an apprenticeship at his uncle’s piano shop in Dillsburg, Pa. Dean started and completed one year and 3 months apprenticeship. During this time he advertised and tuned pianos on the weekends in his home area. We still have a few customers from our first and second years of business. College started and he tuned for the college, Carroll County public schools and private homes and churches.

During this time, he tuned for eight different music stores, with four of them providing regular work. Two of these stores were in Hagerstown covering the tri-state area.

In March 1977, Dean started his first retail piano store. In 1978, he purchased the store where we still are located today. We serve four states for tuning pianos: Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Our tuners have serviced/tuned over 88,000 pianos over the years. Our piano movers have now moved over 19,000 pianos across the years. We specialize in rebuilding and reconditioning pianos, refinishing pianos, storage of pianos, retail sales of new and used acoustic pianos, digital pianos and guitars, We are blessed with great customers and a great staff of workers. We will be honored to serve you in any of these ways.

We also teach music lessons, with seven teachers for piano or guitar. Our store manager is Michael Hill. Dean still tunes and moves pianos. In 2020, we were blessed to be honored to be listed among the top 100 dealers in USA by NAMM. The future continues to be bright.
